First ride in 2 Months !

Postby nug » Fri Dec 11, 2015 8:49 pm

Well. It was a nice bright but cold morning, so I decided it was time to bite the bullet I get back on the bike after having 2 months of relative immobility following my leg getting crushed.
Dug the winter riding kit out. Fired up the bike then struggled like buggery to get it out around the dogleg between my outhouse/garage/house. I hadn't realised how bloody weak I have got since my "incident".
Had a ride out to the Lincolnshire Wolds as the roads are nice & quiet with nice scenery. It felt great to get back on 2 wheels. It also reminded me how good my 750 is to ride. Roads were filthy as its mainly farm traffic on the lanes I like to ride, so my nice shiny Big is now plastered
I was out for around 2 1/2 hours all in & that was about enough for me at this stage. Thoroughly enjoyed it though & the bike was as good as ever. I always try to take in a few landmarks or places of interest when I go out so here's a pic of RAF Stenigot Tower which was part of the WW2 chain home radar system. It stands around 400 feet high & is now used for training RAF aerial erectors. Rather them than me....I wouldn't climb that F''@'@@er for any money !

Great to read you got back out on the bike today buddy, looks like you'd a good day for it. I'm sure your leg will strengthen as time goes on. As for that tower, I get a nose bleed standing on a chair lol

Glad you are up and about again mate.
Riding a Big has miraculous restorative powers and makes you feel just so much better :D
Shame about the farm traffic filth on the roads, it`s the same here in Essex.
Selfish bastardz should be banned from the roads.

Thanks chaps.
It was a breath of fresh air getting out on the bike. Not that I have been idle in the past weeks. I have been walking a couple of miles a day & doing my physio like a good boy.
Glad I got out yesterday as its pissing down today !

Looking forward to our next trip over the water Dave. Are we going to attend the Ace Cafe "adventure" meet if it's on ?

Went out for a three hour ride today in pissing rain on roads covered in mud, puddles and wet leaves and got back smiling but soaked through.
It was either that or get nagged into hours of housework

........Went out for a three hour ride today in pissing rain on roads covered in mud, puddles and wet leaves and got back smiling but soaked through......

That's what Sunday's are for Bob....I did the same, with a few friends around Snowdonia, most of the rivers were overflowing, but avoided the flooded roads (the panzer is still dead)...out for 6hrs and 180miles.
I got back nice and dry, but my HG winter gloves are starting to let in...fit for the bin.
Dave.
