Worse than that I was in bed asleep, Have so much illness in the family that between working over Christmas including new years day and taking care of my parents (now both have cancer and sadly the old man most likely won't see another Christmas) and my sister who's kidneys are failing (Christmas dinner was all on my shoulders as the Veggie I married won't cook meat), I had run my self ragged by the time we hit the 31st so hit the hay about ten as this year promises to be a stinker  . On the Up side SWMBO got me a spare set of tanks for Crimbo so not all bad

We all have to go some time mate, It didn't help that I had to help out with my sister over Christmas as her other half came down with Labyrinthitis which I thought was a David Bowie film

Blimey Deano thats a shitty bit of luck mate. Just had very similar bad from my mates parents who are both on borrowed time. We stayed with them last time I was working down your neck of the woods and they were doing fine. So much can change in a short time.
Lost my Dad just before Xmas a few years back and Mum followed a few Months after. Like you you say "We all have to go some time mate". Doesn't make it easy for those left behind though.

All the best mate.
