Agree with Spen. Is it an achievable amount?

I have no idea but it really isn`t looking good.
Just deleted another few hundred. It`s beyond a joke.
Also went into the list of members and deleted over a hundred which took ages.
They all had similar email addresses as the porn sites, though some ended in .ru so it`s originated in Russia.
I assume some nasty spiteful Russian kunt has manually signed up all these members as I assume a bot couldn`t get past the security check.
I really do have better things to do with my time!

Or allow a couple of long-term trustworthy members to have admin rights in an effort to share the spam deleting sessions?

Hi Bob, I guess you picked up my P.M. earlier as I couldn't post to any thread as I was 'spammed out' by the feckers. However I was able to post a new one there regarding chain lubrication so maybe you have reconciled my tech issue thanks.

I too will be happy to chuck a few quid your way if you think an affordable piece of software is available and you wish to give it a go. Like the others I appreciate the time and effort you & the other lads put in to running the site. I'd have been lost without it. I'm wondering if the German & Dutch lads have had any bother and/or been able to 'firewall' their sites from spammers?

If only it was that simple. Knobby the webmaster is really busy and works away from home a lot and just doesn`t have time to sort this out.
I don`t have the IT skills either. So it`s not a matter of throwing money at it though thanks for the offers.
I`ve cleared out countless spam posts and fake members, but I think there`s a bug in the system that just keeps generating more.

Ban all further ip's from rooski land for a month or two from joining? I know they can use proxies but they may just go after low hanging fruit elsewhere?

If only I had the IT skills to carry out such a suggestion.
Alas, I`m old skool and have no idea how to do all these nerdy things.
I`m at the limit of my ability just deleting unwanted members and really not up to performing all the complex tasks your average 11 year old can do in their sleep
However, I exchanged a few emails with Knobby last night and he`s changed the settings so that spambots can`t register as members and I have to validate them by email.
Not sure how it works and we may never get any more new members, but if it keeps the nasty little Russki spambots off the site then that`s fine.
At least we didn`t get any more of the hateful little feckers overnight

Ah nice work Big Bob! I think the email verification is a good plan. ADVrider and the HUBB have the same and I never see them getting spammed. Fingers crossed! Cheers!
