Yes we can! ;)

Download the manual, read it, and set them at the DR 800 settings, those of the 750 are to small..

Thanks, I'll do the balancer chain at the same time as the valve clearance check. Can you just confirm , for the 750 I should set the clearances to that of the DR800SM (the DR800SL has the same as the 750) ... ie. IN 0.08-0.013 , EX 0.15-0.2
Just want to double check in case it's critical. :?

Yep, those are right..

The head, rockers and camshaft of the 750 and 800 are almost exact the same.
especially if you like hanging a bit on the throttle a bit those clearances of the 750 are ridiculous small and almost sure the reason the cam shaft and rockers of a 750 are worn down at 50.000km..

But like always after working on the valves, timing chain etc turn the crankshaft a couple of times after doing your thing to make sure the piston can turn around free ;)

Have fun doing it and watch out with the electric wires coming from the rotor, don't get them stuck between carter and engine..

I always set mine slightly less than those quoted for the 800, more like the top end of the scale for the 750. I just did the valve clearances on one of my 750`s, which I last did 25k ago! They had barely closed up at all, and were still within tolerance. I think it helps that I change the oil every 2k and don`t thrash the tits off it. Mind you, I`ve got six of these and after many hundreds of thousands of miles over twenty years, I`ve got the feel for how the engine performs. While you are doing it, drop the little sump plate off the bottom of the engine, and check that the oil pump screen is clear and not covered with gunk.

Those valves dont wear down at all it seems indeed.

And Bob is right about that screen, it can get full of some realy sticky black stuff blocking the flow to the oil pump.
