Hi'yall
Im sure this has been asked and answered but i couldnt get info on it. Whats the craic with running a top box on the stock rear carrier?

The stock ally rear carrier is approx 9 x 9", the mount I've bought https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00FYOQB5A/ ... TE_3p_dp_1 is approx 11" square.

My worry is the of the 6 mounts on the carrier only most forward four are on the frame and give actual structural support. Combine that with my monokey plate which overhangs and are reaching a point of possible failure? Whats yer thoughts and experiences?

My plan is use my 46L 4kg givi trekker https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorc ... 7#tab_desc
Wont have more than 7kg in it.

I have a monolock mount on two of my Bigs that takes a 52l topbox. (monokey and monolock are just two variations on the same theme).
Never had a problem even when the box has been stuffed full and I`ve been riding off road.

Ooh thats a Big F@@@@r !!!

Had a fairly large case on my SR43 which made it want to go into a tank slapper if you let go of the bars at about 30-40. Fine without it on though. Not a problem but just indicative of how it effects air flow I suppose. Should get loads of bricks in that mate

Thats the minimum size a top box should be  If ya cant fit a lid and tools in it aint a top box and for me thats 46L :D
Brothers bandit used to do the same and slap with the box on when hands were off the bars. I always reckoned it was unloading the front which caused it. Mates blackbird did it too till we stuck a shim above the shock.
Hopefully the extra ride height i have on my wilbers will stop it but if it is as you say it may well get slappy. Will have to check hands off the bars and report back (hands barely off the bars that is lol).

If its fine in normal riding with hands on bars then it's not a problem unless you are a stunt rider
