Speedo problems help

Been out. Today little ride and my speedo is playing up it works for a bit then it stops I disconnected the cable and its spinning fine so looks like I need a new speedo so will one from a dr650 or a dr350 fit the housing look the same to me in the photos on eBay or has someone got one the they will sell

Speedo's are the same just the centre lights are in a different order, 350 max V = 160, they become rare so dont think you will find one cheap.

Thanks for that thought they looked the same can I take the speedo out of its housing and put it in my housing so the lights and rev counter or just change the lot if that's less hassle

They are identical size wise, a swap of the counter is no pbm.

Check the speedo drive as well Jeff. They can strip the gears or just wear badly and cause intermittent operation. I think hessler does pattern drive gears. Its easy to check if the speedo is F@#cked. Just run it off a cordless drill and see if it jumps.

Whitch way do you run the drill forward or reverse don't want to knacker the speedo up if it's not knackered to start with the cable looked to spin ok as I was rideing back

You wont knacker it mate. Just try it slowly either way until the needle twitches the right way then give it the beans :tup:
