Questions regarding the DR800

Kph to Mph Speedo Conversion.

Postby mid-life-crisis » Thu Dec 15, 2011 5:25 pm

Hi All.

I think as most of us DR 800 SM import owners (1991 on) know there is no easy way of coverting the clocks to MPH.
Did a bit of playing around on photoshop and came up with this overlay.

Image

Printed on white self adhesive vinyl with a clear vinyl laminate. First try didnt have the laminate so the colours ran a bit when it was damp.
Thes ones seem to work ok.
Takes a bit of fiddling to get the clock apart but it can be done.
Quite accurate when compared to my mates Triumph Tiger but possibly a bit on the safe side if you know what I mean.
Thinking of doing a set of blue faces for the speedo and rev counter to go with the bikes yellow and blue coulor scheme.

Got a few spare, so if anyone wants one PM your address and I will pop one in the post. Remember 1991 SM models onwards.

Disclaimer. Dont blame me if your caught speeding. ;) ;)

The whole speedo has self destructed through vibration so unfortunately the mph kmh converter wont help me. The day i collected my 800 from sunny Birmingham I had the throttle stick wide open on the A42... which having no tools with me I just let it go until i had to slow down for a town....during this time the needle fell off the speedo & the face came loose & started dancing in the speedo housing so ever since I not bothered with the speedo... :shh: ..only 2 years

Hello mate!

I've just imported a Dr Big from Germany and it's in kilometres

I don't suppose I could be cheeky and ask for a copy of the speedo conversion sticker could I?

Many thanks

Toby.

Check the date. You are 6 years too late.
