Questions regarding the DR800

rev counter

Postby philcymro » Sat Oct 21, 2017 8:24 pm

I've just bought my DR800 and the rev counter flickers up and down with no regards to the revs of the engine. What can I check ? Thanks Phil.

You can check all the connections for corrosion and that they are secure. It may be that the internals are worn and starting to fail though as vibration takes it toll.

The tacho works off pulses from the ignition coils, so you could also check that the connections there are good. It could just be a poor earth on the coils.
It will involve removing the tank etc which is a pain.

Cheers Bob i'll be taxing it from November 1st so will have a few spins in the hope it may come good. The bike only covered 300 miles last year so needs a bit of air put in her lungs.
