Well I have measured the brand new balancer chain and it measures pretty much the same as my old one.

I still think its worth me renewing it as old one has marks from the gear teeth on it and i am sure i put quite some force through it when undoing the balancer shaft gear nuts using a pole through the small end of the con rod. My timing chain looked in much shinier and newer than the balancer chain so maybe that one has been done but will measure it as well.
