Yeah Bob, I agree with you...

I just took a look to my supplier, it's just Heidenau and VeeRubber availlable. I think Heidenau manufactures in eastern Germany. At least I hope so.
K74 / K69 last only 1000kms with 50/50 on/offroad, so I'll take the tubes to a closer inspection then.

Cheers,
Lars

Those Mefo Explorers are basically the same as the Heidenau K60 like I had on my 800 Bob. I read somewhere that they are made in the same factory but branded different but don't quote me on that.
My Heidenau was quite good but did not last anywhere near as long as I hoped having read so many glowing review on them. I reckon Bigs must be hard on tyres.

Mefo gets their rubber produced at the Heidenau plant in eastern Germany.

I think you are right about Bigs being hard on tyres, and chains too.
I rarely get more than 5k from a rear whatever make it is, mind you, I do bin them when they have squared off even if there is still a few mm of tread.
I hope those MEFO tyres are better than the Barums they used to put on the MZ 2 smokes back in the 70s
