Do not use tank sealant.
The spigot inside the tank that feeds the fuel tap is a long spiral in shape and very narrow diameter.
If you use sealant it will block it
Get another tank instead
Where are you?

Am located in deepest Gloucestershire, will drain and wash out the tank this winter.

WT, I had some success in dealing with my tanks - which sound to have been similar to yours.
