OEM uk headlight

Postby GrahamW » Thu Jan 09, 2020 3:30 pm

I am looking for an oem headlight to fit to my DR800 as it currently has a very bad dual conversion (off a Piaggio I think). I am toying with the idea of fitting a stock lens and then a H4 HID conversion kit which should brighten things up enough.

I have ordered this headlight on ebay:

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 2865246449

Its E4 marked so wont be UK spec so how does that affect me at MOT time? Also when I look at the photos of the back of it, it looks like there is no hole for the H4 bulb to go in. That looks odd whats going on with that?

Cheers Graham

How about this one a bit pricey but would it fit, no emark on it as older I think.

This one has 5518 on the lens so it is UK dip so will be fine for MOT.
As you say, E4 is r/hand dip for Europe.
I`ve been using these for several years with no problems, and they are way brighter than OE. You should be able to buy them cheaper than this but may come from China.

That first headlight was an optical illusion. The inside reflector made it look like there was no hole!

Had bulb retainer and boot missing as well so good job you cancelled it.

I see what you mean I turned the image upside down and then it looked like you are looking into a hole! It really looked like black metal with two rivet like dimples.

Well had a go at fitting this today removed the beak and have wired up a h4 socket and got it working. I am just missing the pilot lamp holder so have ordered a generic 14mm one off ebay for £6.
